Peter Johann, Ph.D., is the Founder, Chairman & CEO of Lumendi Ltd, an innovative medical technology company that focuses on devices enabling endoluminal interventions. He also serves as Managing General Partner of NGN Capital since 2004. NGN is a healthcare venture capital firm managing the existing portfolio from prior Funds with offices in New York and Heidelberg, Germany.. Dr. Johann had successful IPOs and M&A transactions within his investment portfolio.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Johann held several positions in the healthcare industry, including Division Head of Corporate Development at Boehringer Ingelheim, where he was responsible for strategic planning and projects, M&A, business development and licensing. Prior to this, Dr. Johann served at F. Hoffmann-La Roche as Global Business Leader Oncology Products. Other earlier positions include those at Boehringer Mannheim as Head of Business Development and Marketing Molecular Medicine; marketing, sales and business development responsibilities at Boehringer Mannheim Biochemicals including collaborations in the field of biopharmaceuticals.

Dr. Johann currently serves on the Board of Directors of Noxxon Pharma AG, Vivaldi Biosciences Inc. and Exosome Diagnostics Inc. He previously served on the Board of Directors of Micromet, Inc., Horizon Pharma Inc., Resverlogix Corp., Zenith Epigenetics Inc., Endosense SA, Jerini AG and NaniRx Therapeutics (now PIN Pharma).

Dr. Johann earned his Ph.D. from the Technical University Munich.

Michael Augsberger is the Chief Financial Officer of Lumendi Ltd.

His experience includes 25 years in the clinical research, corporate development, private equity and investment banking industries.

Mr. Augsberger began his career in the CRO industry with IBAH, Inc. There he focused on regulatory affairs and business development.

He was instrumental in establishing the firm’s international division, driving corporate development efforts globally, and supporting the firm’s eventual IPO and sale.

Mr. Augsberger also spent more than 12 years within the global healthcare investment banking teams at Deutsche Bank and UBS, where he played significant roles in M&A and financing transactions worth over $50 billion.

Most recently, Mr. Augsberger served as Managing Director, Europe, for Fosun International, where he originated and executed a number of the firm’s investments in the US and European healthcare sectors.

Mr. Augsberger obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Bucknell University and an MBA from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University.

Mike Parrilla is the Chief Operating Officer of Lumendi LLC. He is a senior operations executive with more than 35 years of progressive experience managing medical device and high technology companies, products, and personnel.

Before joining Lumendi, he held the position of Senior Vice President, Corporate Manufacturing Operations for Hologic, Inc, a leading developer, manufacturer, and supplier of premium diagnostic products, medical imaging systems, and surgical products. He was part of a senior management team that was responsible for growing revenue from $180M in 2003 to over $2.5B in 2013. Prior to this, Mr. Parrilla spent many years in the medical device and aerospace industry with an emphasis on manufacturing engineering, manufacturing management, procurement, and program management.

Mr. Parrilla is an alumnus of Western Connecticut State University (Business Administration), Norwalk State Technical College (Manufacturing Engineering), and SUNY at Farmingdale (Automotive Technology).

James J. White, DO serves as Vice President of Medical Affairs for Lumendi. He has over ten years of experience in the minimally invasive surgical device industry.

Before joining Lumendi, Dr. White spent eight years as VP of Medical Affairs for USGI Medical, a developer of devices for incisionless weight loss surgery. Prior to this, he served as Director of Clinical Affairs for Power Medical Interventions, a company focused on flexible, powered surgical staplers.

Dr. White’s regulatory and clinical experience includes the development and management of a multi-center, randomized, pivotal trial involving more than 350 patients. In addition, as a board-certified family physician, he was the sole owner of a large medical practice from 1995 to 2003.

Dr. White earned his DO degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and his BS in Natural Sciences from Muhlenberg College.

Erwin van Wijk is an experienced sales and marketing executive, with a solid track record spanning more than 30 years in the medical device industry, more specifically in Endoscopy. During this time he held numerous management positions, most recently as Consultant to Mauna Kea Technologies where he was responsible for Market Development in Europe, as Managing Director of Northgo Consultancy, a medical device consulting company assisting medical device companies in new business development.

He also served as Director Global Business Development for EMEA and APAC for Hoya Pentax (Tokyo, Japan) and held different management positions within Pentax Medical (Hamburg, Germany) and Stryker Endoscopy (San Jose CA, USA)

Mr. Van Wijk demonstrated his competence in building successful sales organizations and distribution partnerships. He has deep knowledge of the European health care systems, Key Opinion Leader Management, and Advanced Imaging technologies in the field of Gastroenterology, Pulmonology and Surgery, having worked closely with scientists and users alike in introducing new techniques.

Mr. Van Wijk studied Law and Public Health at Utrecht University and Social Marketing in Public Health at the University of South Florida, as well as Strategy at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.

Yukio Nakajima is a senior executive with more than 30 years of experience in medical devices, particularly in the fields of gastroenterology, minimally invasive surgery, ENT, respiratory therapy, urology, gynecology, and neurosurgery.

He recently served as a Managing Director of YUKIO Advisors LLC, a medical device consulting company assisting medical device companies, healthcare professionals, and medical societies in new business development; strategic and business planning, creation, and execution; technology assessments; global partnership networking; key opinion leader (KOL) advisory networking; and education. Mr. Nakajima spent much of his career at Olympus, where he focused on new business and product development, product launches, cross-functional product development teams, and cultivating and strengthening KOL relationships.

Mr. Nakajima is skilled in cross-cultural business relationships, having worked extensively in the U.S., Europe, and Japan for much of his career. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo, Japan.

Dr. Robert Bider is the former CEO of Hirslanden Group, where, for 17 years, he was instrumental in growth the company from one hospital to one of Europe’s largest and most successful private hospital chaing.  Robert currently sits on several boards, including Montana Capital Partners AG and Rhino Partners.  He also is a member of the board of Grand Hotels Bad Ragaz, Salem-Spital, Beau-Site AG, USI Group Holdings AG, Medi-Clinic Switzerland AG and Medi-Clinic Corporation Limited.

Renzo Zanolari, who graduated in law from the University of Bern, is a partner in a trust company headquartered in Licthenstein after six years as head of the department of professional advisors/trust officers.  Prior to joining the trust company, he was employed by a firm of attorneys and then joined the administrative court of the Canton of Grison, Switzerland.  Renzo spent time in Paris and Florence to perfect his French and Italian language skills

Dr. Sergey V. Kantsevoy is a global authority in interventional endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound who holds medical patents on procedures and treatment systems in endoscopic procedures. He is a Professor of Medicine and Director of The Center for Therapeutic Endoscopy, a centralized treatment hub for digestive health and liver diseases that provides screening services and treatment for illnesses affecting the colon, esophagus, stomach, liver, bile ducts, pancreas and intestines. The Center is part of The Melissa L. Posner Institute for Digestive Health & Liver Disease at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Dr. Kantsevoy pioneers and provides innovative treatments. A lecturer and speaker at medical conferences worldwide, Dr. Kantsevoy has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles, co-authored several books on digestive disorders, and authored more than 20 book chapters.

Dr. Gorgun obtained his medical degree from Istanbul University, Istanbul School of Medicine, Turkey. After he completed five years of general surgery residency training at Istanbul University, Cerrahpasa School of Medicine in Turkey, he moved to the United States. He finished 2 years of research fellowship followed by a year of clinical fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, Department of Colorectal Surgery. He moved to New York City for an advanced laparoscopic colorectal fellowship at the New York Presbyterian hospital, Weill-Cornell. In New York he decided to complete an ACGME approved residency at New York Presbyterian hospital, Weill-Cornell Medical College.

Dr. Gorgun then also completed an ACGME approved specialty training in Colon and Rectal surgery/laparoscopic surgery at Weill-Cornell and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Gorgun joined Cleveland Clinic, Department of Colorectal Surgery as a full time faculty in 2011 and he is certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery and American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Gorgun is active in many other professional groups, including the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, Cleveland Surgical Society, American College of Surgeons, Turkish Obesity Surgery Association, German Association of Surgery, and the Istanbul Chamber of Medicine. Dr. Gorgun’s specialty interests include minimally invasive colorectal and laparoscopic colorectal surgery, robotic colorectal surgery, laparo-endoscopic surgery, rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Dr. Diehl is a board-certified and fellowship-trained gastroenterologist. His clinical interests include endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and innovative advanced therapeutic endoscopy. Dr. Diehl obtained his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed his residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and his fellowships in gastroenterology at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center and the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center. Dr. Diehl is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. In his free time, Dr. Diehl enjoys spending time with his family and exercising, particularly swimming. He also has an appreciation for old cars.

Dr. Mohamed O Othman, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship trained Advanced Endoscopist. He is Associate Professor of Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hepatology Section, Baylor College of Medicine and is Chief, Gastroenterology Section, Baylor St Luke’s Medical Center. He graduated from University of Mansoura School of Medicine, Mansoura, Egypt in 2001 and shortly after began his residency in internal medicine at University of New Mexico School of Medicine Albuquerque, NM, followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He then was accepted to an Advanced GI Fellowship at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, Jacksonville, FL from 2010 to 2011. Following his Fellowship at Mayo he accepted a position as Assistant Professor, Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Internal Medicine, Paul L Foster School of Medicine, Texas Tech HSC at El Paso until 2014 when he joined Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Over the last twenty years, he’s been the recipient of numerous research grants and has been widely published in many peer reviewed scientific publications and book chapters and is a regular speaker on the academic circuit both nationally and internationally.
