Geisinger Nurses Interventional Endoscopy (GENIE) Course
Overview
This is an in-person educational activity. There are very limited opportunities for advanced endoscopy nurse’s education, let alone advanced endoscopy courses. There is a need for critical education to improve both knowledge and technical skills among endoscopy nurses and techs participating in advanced procedures. Live cases are streamed for viewing to participants with interactive discussion during each case, followed by a hands-on practice lab.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Techs, as well as all Endoscopy Staff Members.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
- Explain the pathophysiology and endoscopic management of various gastrointestinal diseases
- Explain the indications, contraindications, complications, and management of various advanced endoscopy procedures
- Identify the difference between interventional endoscopy and observing live endoscopic cases of ERCP, EUS, EMR/ESD, third space endoscopy, and Endohepatology procedures with an interactive panel-based discussion
- Demonstrate appropriate use of ERCP, EUS, EMR, stents, endoscopic clipping, foreign body removal, etc. utilizing the hands-on preceptorship stations

In the unusual circumstance that this course is canceled, you will be called and/or emailed, and any tuition fees received will be refunded in full.
Attendance
Attendance will be recorded within three to four days of the conclusion of the activity.

Henry Hood Center for Health Research is located on the Geisinger Campus in Danville, PA (Montour County), Exit 224 on Interstate 80. Routes 11 and 54 also intersect in Danville.

Registration
Please select which day(s) you will be attending from the following options:
- Both Thursday (August 27) and Friday (August 28) events
- Thursday, August 27 — Evening reception at the Iron Fork
- Friday, August 28 — Educational day at the Henry Hood Center for Health Research
Select your t-shirt size, as each participant will be given one at registration.
We are happy to provide a one-night complimentary hotel stay to all course participants for the night of August 27th, at no cost to you.
Once registered, the course will open in GeisingerCE (Ethos) — no further action is required.
