November 5th, 2024: Lumendi was proud to participate in the Kings Live event at King’s College Hospital in London, where our colleague, Robert Lulo, collaborated with Dr. Amyn Haji, a highly esteemed consultant colorectal and general surgeon, and clinical advisor to Lumendi. Following this engaging event, Lumendi was provided an opportunity to demonstrate the advanced capabilities of Lumendi’s DiLumen EZ Glide system in a clinical case and a specialized lab setting.
Dr. Haji, the Clinical Lead for Colorectal Surgery and Endoscopy at King’s College Hospital, oversaw two successful cases using DiLumen EZ Glide. One involved an endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) procedure, and the other, a 6.5 x 5.5 cm descending colon polyp removal, was completed in just 35 minutes. These cases highlighted the system’s ability to enhance lens cleaning, stability, and tissue manipulation during complex procedures.
In addition to the live cases, Lumendi featured its EZ1/C1 lab, which allowed the clinical team to engage in hands-on demonstrations using colon tissue models. This immersive experience showcased the benefits of traction and stability provided by DiLumen products, further solidifying their value in advanced endoscopic procedures.
Dr. Haji brings a wealth of expertise to both his clinical practice and his advisory role at Lumendi. A graduate of the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Dr. Haji has trained under renowned experts like Professor Kudo in Japan. He was the first in the UK to perform the peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) technique for achalasia and has authored over 100 publications, earning recognition such as the ‘British Journal of Surgery Prize for Best Paper.’ His leadership in advanced endoscopic techniques and his dedication to innovation make him a vital part of Lumendi’s mission to improve patient outcomes.
We extend our gratitude to Dr. Haji and the team at King’s College Hospital for their collaboration, as well as to Tanya Lonsdale, Business Development Manager at Endotherapeutics Devices, for her support during the event. These collaborations underscore Lumendi’s commitment to driving innovation in minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery.
