LUMENDI EXPANDS STAFF WITH TWO NEW HIRES: VP SALES AND SENIOR DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Industry Veterans James Soares and Yukio Nakajima Join Lumendi’s Endolumenal Interventional Platform Team

WESTPORT, CT, January 11, 2017 Connecticut-based medical device innovator Lumendi, LLC has announced expansion of its continually growing team with two industry veterans, James Soares joining as the company’s new Vice President Sales and Yukio Nakajima the company’s new Senior Director, Business Development.

Dr. Peter Johann, CEO of Lumendi, Ltd., said that “these two industry veterans will help us achieve our many goals, beginning with the launch of our DiLumen™ Endolumenal Interventional Platform, which will be available in May to hundreds of thousands of patients in the U.S. and globally who suffer from digestive disease and require intervention.”   In December 2016, Lumendi received United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its DiLumen™, an endoscopic accessory indicated to ensure complete positioning of an endoscope in the large intestine and assist with optical visualization, diagnosis and endoscopic treatment.

James Soares, Vice President, Sales, has more than 35 years of experience in sales, marketing and commercializing medical devices with a specific focus in gastroenterology and minimally invasive surgery.   For the last 27 years, Mr. Soares was in senior commercial positions at Olympus, most recently as Regional Vice President, Surgical Imaging after spending his early years at Kendall Healthcare (now Medtronic Covidien) and Johnson & Johnson. Mr. Soares earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Rhode Island College, Providence, RI and his MBA (honors) from Bryant University, Smithfield, RI.

Yukio Nakajima, who joins Lumendi as Senior Director, Business Development, is a senior executive with over 30 years of experience in medical devices, particularly in the field of gastroenterology, minimally invasive surgery, ENT, respiratory, urology, gynecology and neurosurgery. Mr. Nakajima most recently served as Managing Director of YUKIO Advisors LLC, a full service medical device consulting company with a focus on new business development, strategic planning and execution and global partnership networking. Prior to his time at YUKIO Advisors, Mr. Nakajima was with Olympus, where his responsibilities included new business and product development, product launches and cultivating and strengthening customer relationships specifically to better understand unmet market needs. Mr. Nakajima is experienced in cross-cultural business execution, having worked extensively in the U.S., Europe and Japan for much of his career. He earned his Bachelor in Engineering from Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo, Japan.
